Hemorrhoid Banding
What is a hemorrhoid?
Hemorrhoids are small swollen veins in the anal canal that can sometimes become irritated or bleed. Relatively common among adults, they are a result of frequent straining (holding your breath and pushing). They commonly occur in women after childbirth, patients with chronic constipation, and those engaged in heavy lifting (weight training and athletes). Hemorrhoids can sometimes become so troublesome that they bleed daily after bowel movements.

What is Hemorrhoid Banding?
We offer a hemorrhoid treatment called Hemorrhoid Banding, also known as Rubber Band Ligation Therapy that completely gets rid of hemorrhoids by cutting off their blood supply. A tiny rubber band is placed around the base of the internal hemorrhoid, constricting blood flow. Within a few days, the banded tissue will fall off, relieving symptoms. Hemorrhoids treated this way rarely come back.

What should I expect during my visit?
Hemorrhoid banding is an outpatient procedure that is safe, painless, and can be completed in 10-15 minutes while in our office.
How long is recovery?
Your recovery should be fast and easy. You may feel mild discomfort the first 24 hours, but nothing that over-the-counter medications can’t take care of. Banded hemorrhoids usually dry up and fall off without notice.
