What is Acid Reflux?
cid reflux is when acid that is normally made by the stomach back up into the lower part of your esophagus (food pipe) and causes damage.

Heartburn is a symptom you feel when you there burning sensation in your chest after eating or belching.
What are some other common symptoms of GERD?
Some people with GERD can have regurgitation (undigested food back in mouth or chest), coughing, or change in voice.
When should you see a gastroenterologist?
You should see a gastroenterologist when you GERD or heartburn has not improved after a two weeks trial of antacids, trouble swallowing, many years of GERD/heartburn, pain with swallowing, food feeling stuck, weight loss, blood in stool, or dark stools.
What can I do to help?
Avoid smoking, eat smaller meals, and avoid eating close to bed time. Stop eating at least 4 hours prior to bedtime.
